Having gone through many fires and two mandatory evacuations, we have the utmost respect, honor, and admiration for firefighters. These brave, unselfish, and truly altruistic individuals place themselves in harm’s way to save the lives of others. They work endlessly to protect our trees, forest animals, our homes, and our lives.
With our most profound and heartfelt sadness, we are announcing the loss of a specialized “Hotshot” Fireman, Charles Morton, on Thursday, September 17, 2020, who was protecting our mountain from the devastation of this human-caused fire. We thank Charles Morton for his service and his sacrifices protecting us. May his family and friends find comfort in knowing that Charles will live forever in our hearts and the hearts of every mountain resident.
We will never forget you, Charles Morton, or your courage as we will see you in the eyes of every firefighter, every tree, leaf, pine-needle, acorn, every critter on the mountain, including the pesky gopher who has taken over our front yard. Every time we walk in our home, hug each other, and pet our dogs, we have you to thank because of you and others’ efforts; we have each other and our home and beautiful forest alive with animals.
We are grateful for our Heroes
and Angels. It is because of
them that
Our Human Spirit Will Prevail!
